Welcome to CouchTo5kg, our unique, short-term approach to personal training designed to support those at the "pre-gym" stage; that in-between space where you’re curious, but not quite ready to step into a traditional gym environment. It’s for those who want to move a bit more but may feel unsure, embarrassed, or overwhelmed by the idea of working out in a gym.

This one-on-one programme is all about building a great foundation —focusing on teaching movement patterns, practicing balance, and developing coordination in a warm, non-intimidating space - and then letting you fly. It’s the perfect way to begin your movement journey, whether you’re new to exercise, or have felt disconnected or overlooked in traditional gym settings.

We take the time to teach you proprioception (your body’s awareness of movement in space), which alone will enhance your movement quality and lays the groundwork for exercises you might encounter in a gym later on. But this isn’t just about physical fitness—it’s about feeling more at home in your own body, boosting confidence in how you move, and empowering you to “take up space.”

Here, the emphasis is on helping your body learn to move with ease and confidence. There’s no pressure, no performance—just an opportunity to experiment and explore what your body can do, in a space that supports your independence and individuality.

We practice experiential goal-setting, so this service is highly personalised and tailored specifically to you, taking into account any physiotherapy needs, injuries, or chronic conditions like arthritis. If your goal is to get back to a sport you once played, return to the swimming pool, chase after the kids or grandkids, or simply just to "feel a bit better," we’re already on the same page.

Our mission is to support you just as long as you need it. We want to help you realise your “Why?”, and discover moments of joy in movement. Then when the time comes, (and that’ll be sooner than you might think!) we’ll help you to choose the right fitness environment, ensuring you feel confident to continue your journey independently.

There are no sales pitches or long-term programmes to keep you tethered—the goal is simple: to help you feel capable, confident, and ready to move forward without us. Your sense of empowerment and independence is our only measure of success.
